Rachel Baucom BSN, RN

Director of Nursing

1. What is your role at MBH? What does that look like day to day?
I serve as the Director of Nursing at MBH, where I oversee all aspects of our medical and nursing operations. In my role, I supervise and support our nursing staff, ensuring they have the guidance and resources needed to provide high-quality care. On a day-to-day basis, I make sure client medications are properly ordered, managed, and administered safely and accurately. I also complete client assessments to monitor health needs and adjust care as necessary. Overall, my focus is on keeping our medical services running smoothly each day, maintaining high standards of care, and ensuring the well-being of every client we serve.

2. What is your background? What degrees do you have and which universities did you attend?
My professional journey began in advertising and marketing after earning my first Bachelor’s degree in English and Communication Studies from Florida Atlantic University. After three years in the field, I realized my true passion was in healthcare and chose to pursue a career in nursing. I completed an accelerated nursing program at Thomas Jefferson University, where I earned my BSN.

Since then, I have gained experience across several specialties, including adult medical-surgical nursing, outpatient occupational health, and most recently, working in a Level IV NICU at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

3. Why do you love working at MBH?
We have an exceptional team at MBH, united by a genuine passion for mental health and a deep commitment to our clients. Being surrounded by colleagues who share that same dedication makes it easy to love the work we do every day. I especially value the opportunity to build meaningful, personal connections with my clients. Earning their trust as they open up and share their experiences is truly an honor, and I’m grateful to play a role in their healing journey.

4. Why do you love working in this industry?
I value that no two days are the same and that every client we serve brings a unique story and set of needs. We all face challenges with our mental health at times, and it’s incredibly meaningful to be able to make a positive impact in the lives of those we support.

5. What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?
In my professional life, I’m driven by a commitment to continuous growth—challenging myself and learning something new each day as I work to become a better nurse. Outside of work, I have a passion for traveling and experiencing new places and cultures. One of my personal goals is to explore all of Europe with my husband and daughter.
